Course Purpose and Format:
The Phonosurgery Course is designed to improve basic scientific knowledge, improve clinical practice by helping the surgeons to choose the appropriate treatment and by introducing new surgical techniques.
The format will include half day of clinical update lectures; followed by a half-day of hands-on workshop that includes cadaveric dissection. The lectures will address treatment of laryngeal: (1) benign lesions; (2) glottic insufficiency; and (3) neuromuscular disease. Each topic will be discussed as it relates to assessment and management.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of the phonosurgery course, participants should be able to:
* Understand the role of different laryngeal imaging techniques (Videostroboscopy, kymography and high speed digital imaging)
* Identify treatment options of benign vocal fold disease
* Appreciate the impact of vocal fold scaring, and how it can be prevented and treated
* List the spectrum of movement disorders affecting the voice
* Assessment and management options for glottic insufficiency

Intended Audience:
This course is designed to present state-of-the-art information of interest to otolaryngologists, speech pathologists, and other clinicians caring for patients with voice disorders. It also provides a unique opportunity for the development of phonosurgical skils through cadaveric dissection.
